Stem Cell . . . By : Golf
All cells are originated from a small number of cells called stem cells where these stem cells go through the process of mitosis in order to produce other kinds of cells. Stem cells are cells that are unspecialized but do have the ability to become specialized in structure and function, which means that they developed into a new kind of cell. From just stem cells, it produces all the tissues in our body that eventually develop into liver cells, brain cells, muscle cells where they are now specialized. Stem cells might be the solution to those injuries in our brain or heart since these specialized cells couldn't be produced. This is because it might be possible to use stem cells to grow new liver tissue, to replace heart valves and to reverse the effects of diabetes. This is still a mystery to humankind of the ways of using this to cure diseases that couldn't be cure right now. All we can say is that implants of stem cells can reverse the effects of brain injuries in mice, but still unknown for human since it might be pretty dangerous and unsecured for humans. Researches also found out that nerve cells and liver cells sometimes can be grown from adult stem cells that are isolated from the bone marrow and other tissues in the body and this might led us in the future to be able to cure all the diseases that couldn't be cure right now.

Bill Bryson's A Short History of Nearly Everything!
Every living thing in this world all starts out with a single cell and we were developed also from just one single cell. Each cell from over body carries genetic code of your body, which shows you that you're yourself. Cells does everything that you're doing, there isn't a thing that they don't do for you. The first person to describe a cell was Robert Hooke and he had achieved many things in his years like making ingenious and useful instruments.

About The Website (Project Blog # 2)
I have had learnt a lot of making my own webpage. It was pretty interesting to learn new things that I could do on our own webpage and it was fun being in the creative group and makes the webpage looks good. For the website, I had worked on my own page, the energy flow page (finding pictures and information) and also a little contribution on the "The Flood" page. This project was pretty unique for me since it is like we must all work together to create a great website and all of us must contribute. Now there's some blank pages, which we are lack of teamwork and that might be a problem that would cost us not having a perfect website. So this project requires a lot of teamwork and we must cooperate in order to create a great website for the audience. I really like this project and it was very enjoyable for me.
Process of My Research (Project Blog # 1)
By working and researching on this project about water quality, I have had gain a lot of knowledge that I never had once knew before. I was really surprised to find out that this flood that just happened to pass was the fourth of the most disastrous event that happened in the history. I never knew that it was that big and I just thought that it was not really serious. I have researched about the water quality and noticed that how fast the water got worsen. As the day passes, I noticed that the water quality worsen everyday and at a rapid speed. Then about for a month it gradually goes back down. It was pretty an interesting project since I never think serious about the flood until I really read about it and the event of the flood was just happened.

Should Antibiotics Be Restricted?
I think that antibiotics should not be restricted since they are very important to us. Antibiotics are very useful in many ways. First of all, antibiotics are also known as antibacterials, and they are drugs used to treat infections caused by bacteria. They cure disease by killing or injuring bacteria. The first antibiotic was penicillin, discovered accidentally from a mold culture. Today, over 100 different antibiotics are available to doctors to cure minor discomforts as well as life-threatening infections. This is one big reason why antibiotics shouldn't be restricted since they are used to cure many life-threatening infections. Another reason that we shouldn't restrict antibiotics is that they are required for our food supplies since our food supply depends on the use of antibiotics on agriculture. Without antibiotics, our huge population would have a problem with the food supply. But antibiotics also does bad things to us too. Overusing them had caused many bacteria to developed resistance to antibiotics, for example tuberculosis. In the future, antibiotics can't be used to repel these bacteria. Also, overusing them causes many bacteria to die out where these bacteria could be very important to us. This is because some bacteria in our bodies helps us prevent other bacteria that's bad to our body.
Even though we know that consuming too much antibiotics will harm us, we just need to consume them not too overloading. It is something that is used as medicine today so they are pretty important to us when an infection comes. These antibiotics will eventually saves our life. They even help us to kill off bacteria in our food supplies so that we won't get infected and get sick. So this is why I think that antibiotics should not be restricted. Antibiotics prevent us all many kind of sickness and illness.

My Favorite Specie!
My favorite kingdom is the Animalia Kingdom, since it is the kingdom that we, humans are included in this kingdom. My favorite specie from this kingdom is the Canis familiaris, or the Chihuahua. It is the smallest breed of dog and is name for the state of Chihuahua in Mexico. Chihuahuas come in a wide variety of sizes, head shapes and colors and coat lengths. Their life span is about 14 to 18 years. Their average height has the range of 6 to 10 inches and some even grew to about 12 to 15 inches. Dogs share 98% to 99% of their DNA with wolves. If we considered Chihuahua is a subspecies of wolves, the scientific name would be Canis lupus familiaris. Canis familiaris is my favorite specie since I love dogs and I love my two Chihuahua dogs at my house the most, so this is why I chose this as my favorite specie.

My Favorite Science Quote
"I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones." - Albert Einstein
I have chosen this quote since first of all, it was written by Albert Einstein, who is one of the greatest scientist of all time. Another reason I have chosen this quote was that the quote looks really interesting and really looks ahead in the future. It makes me wonder how the world would look like in the future, how humanity would vanished, and what kind of creatures there will be after humans disappear. The meaning of this quote to me is that the world could keep on discover new things and also develop things since Einstein stated that he does not know the weapons that will be used in World War III. Humans could just keep on developing and also evolves, so nobody would know the about the weapons that might be use in World War III. This quote also means that as humans keep developing and evolving, there will be an end to humanity just like dinosaurs. It will be just like starting all over again, so that's why Einstein stated that World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones. This quote is related to science since it shows that people will keep on evolving and discover more about the world. The world in the future will have better technology than it is today. Even though there might and not might be a chance of World War III happening soon but it might happen later in the future ahead of us. That war would might also happens the destroy humanity and wipe out the whole world. So after World War III, there might be new creatures instead of us that dominates the world, so their first world war or our fourth world war would only be using sticks and stones. | ||
